EMIS Web NavBar Installation

A full guide to installation and setting up your NavBar for EMIS Web

This guide will take you through how to install and set up the NavBar for EMIS Web

Before you start:

All applications that communicate to EMIS Web must be made knows to the EMIS Web API and authenticated. For this reason, you will be asked to do this via an EMIS Web Activate New Partner Product Window when you run the NavBar for the first time

You will also need to know your EMIS Web CDB before you begin the setup


Step 1 - Download the NavBar installer

You will have been provided with a download link for the NavBar installer - click on this to get started

If the installer doesn't open straight away, you can double-click on the Phonebar install file instead


The NavBar Setup window will display

Click on the CLICK HERE TO GET STARTED button

This will open up the SSO Log in in a new browser tab. Enter your email address and password to log into the SSO

If you are logging in for the first time you will need to enter your email address and click the Forgot your Password? button. Once this has been done, you will receive a link via email to set your password

Once you have successfully logged in you will see an authentication notice confirming your Surgery Connect profile. Once you see this, you can continue with the setup


Step 2 - Selecting the API in EMIS Web

This step will only need to be completed once per site

Within EMIS Web, open the EMAS Manager

Select Partner API, which is located down the left hand side

Once clicked, a list of partners displays in the panel. Scroll down and select Surgery Connect, then click Activate Application


Step 3 - Activate Surgery Connect in EMAS Manager

Please note: you can complete this step for all of your current Users at the same time, but this will also need to be completed for all new Users going forward

Within EMAS Manager, click the Login Access icon to take you to the Applications Login Access Window

Make sure that the Auto Login and Allow Login boxes are ticked for all of the Users that you want to use the integration

Go to the Edit Users area on the same Patient API area to access the User Configuration window

Tick the Users to activate them with the integration


Step 4 - Run Setup

Click back onto the NavBar setup while it continues to verify your details

Once your identity has been confirmed, the following welcome screen will display

If you are happy that is has authenticated you correctly click NEXT

Select EMIS Web as your integration option. Once selected, you will need to select your Region and EMIS CDB

You will need to confirm that you have EMIS Web open in the background by clicking the tick box in the NOTE

Once both have been selected, click NEXT

When doing this for the first time you will then be asked to associate your Surgery Connect User with your EMIS Web User. If you are happy with this, click ASSOCIATE

The Associate button will turn into a green tick confirming the association

Click NEXT

You will then be notified of Setup success

Click FINISH

This will then launch the Phonebar


NavBar Upgrade Process

You will receive a notification to let you know a new version is available and being downloaded

The Application Updates popup will display

Choose Restart to update now

or select Later to update either when the application is closed, or when SystmOne is locked

Please note: clicking Restart will only restart the NavBar, not your whole PC
