How it works
Desk phones do not have their own short dial number, but can be named. They can be used for hotdesking and when a User logs in to the phone (either manually or using the Surgery Connect Integration) the User's short dial number will be allocated to the phone.
The list of Users names seen when logging in manually can be amended, or if a phone needs a number (for example in a Staff Room where a User wouldn't log in) a dummy (Generic User) can be created.
When you access the list of Extensions you will see this table:
Type: Model of handset installed
Name/Location: The room or desk where the handset is installed
Site: The postcode of the premises where the handset is installed
Permitted Users: The list of Users seen when logging in manually. As a default all handsets are enabled for all users.
EMIS PC: This will show the computer associated with this handset so that logging in can be automated through the Integration software.
SystmOne Users will find this in the Configuration Console, under Integrations.
For full details of Integration, please see our guides on Clinical System Integration.
