Resetting a User's Password

Supervisors can send an access email to a new User, or a access email to a current User so they can re-set their password

How do I give a User their Surgery Connect Password to Log in?

Supervisors can send an automatically generated email to a User so they can log in to Surgery Connect through the Single Sign On (SSO)

This can be done when a new User is added, or it can be done if they have forgotten or request a new password

For guidance on adding new Users, see our Help Guide here

Step by step guide

Accessing Users

Log in to Surgery Connect - sso.x-onweb.com - with your NHS email address and Surgery Connect password

Select the Service Delivery Console

Click on the Users tab

When you access the list of Users you will see this table

Finding your User

At the bottom of your user table you will see the page scroll

You can use this to manually search the User list by increasing the table view rows and navigating between pages or by using the search bar at the top of the User table

Sending the Reset Email

Once you have identified to User you want to send the email to click on the teal Email icon in the Options column

You will see the Success notification at the top of your screen

The User will be sent an email to the email address in the account created in the Service Delivery Console (usually an NHS email address) with a link. Click on the link

Note: The login link in this email expires after 30 minutes

When a User requests to reset their password they will receive an email

Create a new password

When a User has reset their password they will receive a confirmation email

Logged in Users can reset their own password by clicking their SSO initials and selecting Change Password

They will then be prompted to enter their existing password and then enter a new password

They will need to select a password that:

  • Has at least 12 characters

  • Contains at least 1 number

  • Contains both upper and lower case letters

  • Contains at least 1 special character

  • Cannot be found on an exposed password list

If the password meets a stipulation a green tick is displayed

There is a background check in place that cross references a list of exposed passwords and prevents Users from using them so if there are any red crosses showing, they will need to enter a password that meets that criteria

When all the stipulations have been met Create Password can be clicked to set this password

When a user changes their password they will receive an email
