Surgery Intellect - Standalone Mode

Using Surgery Intellect, powered by TORTUS, as a standalone feature to create unassigned consultation or dictation

Updated this week

When there is not patient record open in the clinical system Surgery Intellect can be used to generate consultations or dictations without attaching the contact to a Patient

This is particularly useful as a way of exploring the feature without having to assign the content, or to support other non-patient-led tasks

We would recommend using the Standalone mode to create test consultations to ensure everything is working smoothly before commencing a clinic with patients

Surgery Intellect is a chargeable feature. To register your interest, please use our Enquiry Form here

Launching Surgery Intellect from the Phonebar

To activate Surgery Intellect for a face-to-face consultation, click the Intellect brain icon on the Phonebar

Once selected, the Intellect window will open. When you use Surgery Intellect in standalone mode, you will be notified that there is no Active Patient found

Launching Surgery Intellect from the Appointments Window

Alternatively, you can start using Surgery Intellect by navigating to the Intellect tab in the Phonebar Appointments Window

Completing a Standalone Consultation

Once you have opened the Intellect tab, the standalone features are displayed ready for you to use. From here, you can view your in-progress and completed Consultations and Dictations from the past 24 hours via the tabs on the left hand side

These consultations remain in the archive for 24 hours before deletion

To begin a Consultation without attaching an active patient, click the Start Consultation button. This instantly begins the consultation, and you can then add the Patients name and date of birth at the beginning of the consultation

Please note: all consultations (regardless of whether they are patient-led) are archived to the TORTUS Consultation list once completed, where they remain for 24 hours before deletion. Patient-led consultations are then accessible through the patient contact history after these 24 hours, but non-patient-led consultations will be permanently deleted

For more information on managing Consultations within Surgery Intellect, see our help guide here

To begin a dictation, click the Start Dictation button

Once clicked, the recording begins automatically and continues until the recording button is clicked to stop the dictation

Once the recording has finished, the transcription is displayed. From here, you can make any necessary edits, before copying to the clipboard via the Copy Transcript button, or choosing to Start new dictation
