Surgery Assist - An Introduction

Our NHS approved digital assistant is designed to signpost and educate patients towards appropriate healthcare and community services, reducing the demand on GP surgeries and increasing the usage of the NHS app and Online Consultation tools

By implementing Surgery Assist you can create a digital front door for your surgery, embed it into your website and onto your call flow. Using a 'bot-first' approach empowers self-serve, streamlines care pathways and reduces telephone demand

Our Surgery Assist bots are built on Microsoft Azure AI services and NHS DTAC-certified, they work with all your existing systems including clinical system, telephony, online consultation tools and the NHS App

Furthermore, you will gain access to our Surgery Insights dashboard to analyse practice, PCN and ICB level data to gain real-time insights into patient access, digital adoption and workforce capacity

Website Access

The patient will see your personalised assistant pop up in the bottom right of your website homepage

If the patient decides they would like to speak to the bot they can click on the icon where they will be presented with a chat box, and a message stating your surgeries privacy policy

The patient cannot type until they have selected continue

The 'type your message' option is only available if you have activated Open AI for your bot

Using the tab in the top right hand corner, patients can adjust accessibility features of the bot such as text size, background colour, grayscale, contract etc

The patient will be presented with a disclaimer followed by a 'how may I help' message with a list of pre set options

For any queries that can be resolved online the patient will be signposted to the appropriate resource e.g. the NHS app or Online Consultation tool therefore, reducing call volumes into the surgery

If patients do not have the NHS app installed, they will be guided step by step to download and set up their account

Call Flow Access

Once patients call the surgery they will be presented with your main menu, if the patient selects one of the options where they can be self served e.g. checking and cancelling appointments, prescriptions, test results etc they will be prompted to 'press 1' to receive a text on how to self serve or if they would still like to go through to the surgery they can press 2
