What is a CLI and how can I configure it?
A CLI is the number displayed to the recipient when making outbound calls.
Supervisors can configure a different level of CLI for each user within their organisation, or set the CLI level globally within the Configuration Console.
This allows CLIs to be configured at different hierarchy levels within an organisation, then these different CLIs used automatically depending on the state of the user.
This guide will explain the CLI hierarchy level, and how its setting will effect your users, and how to change the CLI level through the Configuration Console for your organisation via Global Settings or per User.
Levels
Organisation
Only use the CLI configured for the organisation.
Group
Load the user’s primary group (this is currently the ‘first’ group they are a member).
When Group is checked for a CLI and if it can’t find a value, it will default to User then Organisation.
If you are unsure what Group is the Primary Group for each User please speak to our Support Team.
User
Load the CLI from the User’s Account. See our guides on Adding/Editing Users in the Service Delivery Console, to select the CLI at an individual User level.
If user is checked for a CLI and it can't find a value, it will default to Group, then Organisation.
Device
This checks if the User is logged into a valid VoIP Deskphone (one managed by X-on). This can be used to allow CLIs to be set per ‘site’ in a surgery, depending on the physical device.
It will load the CLI from this account and if it can't find a value it will default to User, then Group, then Organisation.
