Creating and resetting your Surgery Connect Password

Updated over a week ago

How do I give a User their Surgery Connect Password to Log in?

Supervisors can send an automatically generated email to a User so they can log in to Surgery Connect through the Single Sign On (SSO)

This can be done when a new User is added, or it can be done if they have forgotten or request a new password

For guidance on adding new Users, see our Help Guide here

Step by Step Guide

Accessing Users

Log in to Surgery Connect - sso.x-onweb.com - with your NHS email address and Surgery Connect password

Select the Service Delivery Console

Click on the Users tab

When you access the list of Users you will see this table

Finding your User

At the bottom of your user table you will see the page scroll

You can use this to manually search the User list by increasing the table view rows and navigating between pages, or you can use the search bar at the top of the User table

Sending Password Reset Email

Users are created with temporary passwords that must be reset when they login to Surgery Connect for the first time

Once you have identified your user you will need to send them an email to set their password. To do this click on the teal Email icon in the Options column

The user will be sent an email to their NHS email address

The User will need to click on the login link in their NHS email inbox which will open a a tab in their internet browser. They will then type their NHS email address into the user name box and create a password

They will need to select a password that:

  • Has at least 12 characters

  • Contains at least 1 number

  • Contains both upper and lower case letters

  • Contains at least 1 special character

  • Cannot be found on an exposed password list

Note: The login link in this email expires after 30 minutes

Creating your password

The validity of your chosen password will be checked as you type it to ensure that it is suitable

Start typing your password into the box

If your password meets a stipulation a green tick is displayed

There is a background check in place that cross references a list of exposed passwords and prevents you from using them so if there are any red crosses showing, you will need to enter a password that meets that criteria

When all the stipulations have been met you can click Create Password

Changing your password

If you wish to change your password you will need to be logged into Surgery Connect

Click on your initials and Select Change Password

You must enter your existing password and then add your new password twice

Once you have changed your password you will receive a confirmation email

Security Verification

From time to time you may be asked to verify your account. This could be random, due to a long period of inactivity or an unknown IP address

If this happens you will receive an email with a verification code

Your SSO login page will automatically change to the page that allows code entry:

The cursor will appear in the first box and as you type in the code it will move to the next box until they have been filled. If entered correctly it will look like this:

If you have entered the incorrect code it will look like this:

If you are unsuccessful click Resend Code and try again
