Changing your settings and applications preferences

Updated over 2 months ago

You can change the basic settings and application preferences within the NavBar to best suit your needs

Want to learn more about the NavBar? Our Improving Patient Communications with the NavBar Academy Course covers everything you need to build the skills, knowledge and confidence of NavBar Users within your practice

Accessing your Settings

Click on your initials on the Right hand side of the Navbar to open the User Menu

Select Settings to open the Settings Window

Integration

The integration preference allow you to easily manage how patient communications are filed

Please note these are only visible if you have integrated the NavBar with your clinical system

Quick File Telephone Calls

When Quick File is turned on for calls, you will be able to file the communications with the patient into the patient record by clicking on the confirmation, rather than manually doing this via the Contact History

File SMS by default

When Quick File is turned on for SMS, you will be able to file the communications with the patient into the patient record by clicking on the confirmation, rather than manually doing this via the Contact History

Surgery Intellect Saving

Currently Surgery Intellect saves to Surgery Connect only. Governance work is currently underway to enable saving directly to the patient care record - in the meantime, the save option in Phonebar settings is set to "off" by default, and cannot be changed

User Preferences

By accessing the User Preferences settings, you can chose what happens when you log in and out of your clinical system

Auto Login

You have three options for the Auto Login settings:

  • Automatic - you will be logged into the NavBar and set to your available or your previous status

  • Requires Confirmation - you will be asked to confirm that you wish to proceed to be logged into the NavBar and set to available or your previous status

  • Do nothing - you will need to login and manually set your status when you log into the NavBar

Auto Logout

You have 3 options for the Auto Logout settings:

  • Automatic - you will be logged out of the NavBar and your status will be set to Logged Out when you exit your clinical system

  • Requires Confirmation - you will be asked to confirm that you wish to proceed to be logged out of the NavBar and set to offline when you logout of the clinical system, or in the event that the clinical system automatically locks

  • Manual - you will need to manually log out of the NavBar and set your status to logged out when you log out of your clinical system

Audio and Video

This area of the settings tab allows you to set your preferences around the audio and video aspects within the NavBar

Microphone

You can select your microphone input from the dropdown in this section, which will list all available options

The bar displayed next to this drop down shows the audio levels, so you can test that the selected input is picking up audio correctly

Secondary Ringer Output

Selecting a Secondary Ringer specifies another speaking to play a ringtone through. This means that if you are not wearing your headset or do not see the inbound call on your screen, you will still hear the ringing through an alternative speaker

Select the alternative output by clicking on the dropdown menu and selecting the speaker of your choice

Video

The Video settings display a drop-down of the cameras available for you to choose from. Select the camera you wish to use, when there is a list to select from

If there is only one option available to you that will be your default video device

Display to show Phonebar

If you have more than one display (monitor) you can choose which display to use for your Phonebar

Select your preferred Phonebar display from the drop-down menu

Phonebar

The Phonebar Settings menu allows you to select which icons you display on your NavBar and which appear in the Menu, via a toggle, to suit your daily tasks

By only selecting the icons you use most often you can reduce the size of your NavBar

You can choose to have the icons displayed on your Navbar and the menu list by selecting Always Display Icons in the User Menu

Shortcuts

A full list of the keyboard shortcuts you can use within the NavBar are displayed in this tab. If you do not wish to be able to use these, they can be turned off

For more information on Keyboard Shortcuts, see our Help Centre Guide here
