Keyboard shortcuts or hotkey commands can be used to quick dial or access feature windows with clinical integration.

What are keyboard shortcuts?

Keyboard shortcuts are commands you can make by typing letter combinations on your keyboard rather than using your mouse to click. These are sometimes referred to as hotkeys

With clinical integration they give you quick access to linked features from the open patient record

This guide will take you through all of the keyboard shortcuts available to you through Surgery Connect and the Phonebar

There are also Star keys which are shortcuts that can be used with your call devices, see our guide

Turning Keyboard Shortcuts off

Should you find that the Surgery Connect Keyboard Shortcuts interfere with the shortcuts of other applications, these can be turned off

Keyboard Shortcuts are switched on as default. To turn them off, access the Shortcuts area in Phonebar Settings and turn the toggle off

Can I change my keyboard shortcuts?

If any of these keys are used by other applications users will need to customise their hotkeys, within those applications, so they do not clash with Surgery Connect.

You should receive a notification pop up letting you know which application has hotkey clashes - example below

You can then use the keyboard shortcut list to identify the clashes to help you decide which one you would like to change

For Microsoft users this can be found in the Customise Ribbon and Keyboard Shortcuts pane
