You can make a video call when calling a mobile number (smartphone) via the Phonebar when device is set to softphone.

How do I make video calls from the Phonebar?

Video calls can be made to a patient from the Phonebar. To make a video call you must be using the softphone as your call device and you must send the video call request to a smartphone

You can video call directly from the Phonebar dialler, video call from the Active Patient window, and video call from Appointments

This guide will explain how to initiate a video call with a patient

Step by step guide


Before you start

Click on the dialler icon to expand the Phonebar and make sure you have the Softphone selected as your device

Making a video call from the Phonebar dialler

Click into the Enter phone number box and dial the patient's mobile number. You can either use copy & paste or type the number using your keypad

Click on the video icon to initiate the call, it will immediately open up a video call window. The meeting invite SMS will be sent automatically to the patient

Before entering a video call you can manage your video call settings by clicking on the Settings (cog) icon. Here you can manage your audio and video settings and apply visual effects

Click Join Meeting to start the video call

The in-call window will then appear. Once in the meeting, you can copy the invite link if you need to invite additional participants to the video call

Once the patient clicks on the link and requests to be let into the meeting, the GP will see the patient knocking and let them in for the call to take place

Alternatively, you can send a message to the patient if you are not ready to start the call

When you are ready click Let in, the patient will appear on the screen

When you are ready to end the call, click the Leave button. This will end the call for all participants


Making a video call from the Active Patient

Click on the video call icon, this will automatically select the mobile number associated with the active patient

By clicking directly on the Video Call icon the invitation to the video meeting will be sent to the mobile number listed for that patient

Or, hover over the Video Call icon for the active patient, click on the number in the list or type an alternative number into the box and then click the Video Call icon

It will immediately open up a video call window. The meeting invite SMS will be sent automatically to the patient

The patient experience

The patient will automatically receive an SMS with the link to the video call, once the video call has been initiated

There will be a link in the body of the message that the patient needs to click on

They do not need to download an app

When they click the link it will launch the application window, the patient can manage their video call settings before entering the call

The patient will need to click Knock to be asked to be let into the video call

Once you let them in the in-call window will appear. The patient will see the same in -call controls

Once the meeting has ended they will see the below screen to show that the call has finished
